Une grande amie des pauvres et miséreux, Soeur Emmanuelle, vient de mourir à 99 ans.Née en Belgique en 1908 dans une famille aisée, Soeur Emmanuelle a toujours été au côté des pauvres en Europe et ailleurs depuis qu'elle était devenue religieuse en 1931.
En 1965, elle avait même choisi l'Egypte pour aider les miséreux en aidant à la construction d'écoles, de jardins d'enfants, de dispensaires et en construisant aussi des points pour le dialogue avec les juifs et les musulmans.
En 1980, cette petite femme très comparable à l' Abbée Pierre, avait fondé l'association Asmae-association Soeur Emmanuelle qui aide des milliers d'enfants dans le monde de l'Egypte au Soudan, du Liban aux Philippines, de l'Inde au Burkina Faso. En 1993 à 85 ans sur ordre desa hiérarchie, Soeur Emmanuelle quitta l'Egypte et ses "amis les chiffonniers" pour prendre sa retraite en France. Soeur Emmanuelle était depuis en retraite dans la communauté de Notre-Dame de Sion dans le Var.
